Japanese iPhone?

Just wondering if a Japanese iPhone (8) would work in the UK? Long story short sisters phone has died and option to get an unopened iPhone 8 from relative in Japan but unsure if it’ll work over here (and be in English!)

Yes they will work. And you can set the language to English, it's the first step in setting up your iPhone.

If it’s unlocked, you’ll be fine. The Japanese version (A1906) of the iPhone 8 actually has more frequency band support than the US and Rest Of World models.

One thing worth noting is that the japanese ones always make a camera shutter sound when taking a picture and I dont think you can disable it short of jailbreaking. Probably not a problem for 99% of the time but it means they make the nosie even in silent mode. Worth noting in case that bothers you for any reason.

Ahh, that was the other weird thing I was trying to remember about the Japanese iPhones.

The first was degraded GPS performance when the phone was active on the Japan-only 1500MHz LTE band.
