Massive lurker here and have plenty of time on my hands at the mo so decided to start this log to motivate myself and show progress.
Motivations for training and past: Was around 15st around 4 years ago, in terrible shape, and have always been the kind of guy that's taken little or no interest in any sport. Since starting university I took up light cycling and a little squash and sorted my diet out, which took a bit of the weight off. In my final year of uni I decided to tryout for the university's rowing team, great time to start I know, and enjoyed the training which ran alongside it. Happy to stay a novice, I'll continue by joining a new club when I start work in October.
Needless to say training for a competitive sport I put in some hours of training, with a less than adequate gym routine for the majority of the time and cardio work on top. Training stopped for me around May, when exams and dissertation work peaked. Running was also a big no-no until the past couple of weeks as I'd been struggling with shin splints non-stop since February, and always pushing a bit too hard too soon and aggravating it further.
By lurking and reading here I've joined a new gym and a new routine, and with a lot of spare time at the moment am set about getting as fit as possible by the time I start my new job.
Training for: General fitness, to be the best I can be and aesthetics.
Currently: 6'1". ~80Kg
I know fitting in lifting and cardio can be a tricky subject and hard to balance especially diet-wise. For the past year I've focused mainly on body recomposition and sat around 76KG over the last year.
Currently trying to fit in ~2100cal on off days and ~3200cal on training days. Lots of protein, lots of carbs.
Any advice, tips etc are more than welcome.
First few posts will be filled with the past couple of weeks training to catchup.
