I'm curious to know if the new chips have reduced the 360 noise by much, someone told me that it's only made a difference of 1db, but surely that can't be right?
A quiet 360 would possibly convince me to buy, but hearing my housemate's jet engine downstairs, it really needs to be a big improvement first.

To date the noise levels on 360's have varied massively between units. I don't think the Jasper chipset will change this. (They have previously changed the internal design, shrunk chips, changed DVD drives, changed cooling fans to no avail).

Don't forget most of the noise will go if you load your games to hard drive, The other fans are still loud and variable from unit to unit, but the dvd drive is the main culprit, which is eliminated by loading your game to the HDD.

You can tell mine is on especially when the drive is spinning up (thank god for the install to hard drive feature) but when its just sat there it isnt too bad, plus when your playing a game the mixture of a 606 + KEF 2005.3 is just overpowering anyway! :p:D

Are you on about drive noise or fan noise?
