JAVA - Another question on waste disposal . . .

As part of my eternal efforts to remove redundant rubbish from my system I have noticed that every time that Java updates, it seems to leave vast numbers of large files littered about on my system (JDK*.*. JRE*.*, etc.).

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is required and what I can safely delete?

I have considered using "Add / Remove Programs" entirely to delete Java and then to install the latest version - Yay or Nay?

Yeap, uninstall and then reinstall. Java can be a bit of a hog sometimes.

The latest version is *-18, which for some reason shuts I.E.7 down straight away. I had to roll back to the more stable *-17 installation
