Java, Firefox and Vista64.

Had to do a reformat there last week, and have since discovered Java isn't working for me in Firefox. That is to say, applets just won't load. There are no error messages or such.

Java is installed, and it runs for me on IE.

When I go into Control Panel > Java > Advanced > Default Java for Browsers, Microsoft Internet Explorer is checked by default (and indeed can't be unchecked), but Mozilla family is unchecked. When I check it and click apply, the selection doesn't "stick". That is, when it's opened again, it is once again unchecked.

Also, under Tools in Firefox, the Java Console option can be clicked, but nothing happens. It immediately greys out and cannot be clicked again until I restart Firefox. I have Java enabled in Firefox's Options.

I've gone through a few online resources for checking if Java is installed/enabled, but nothing seems to have helped.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Strange, I've had no issues with only 32bit java working with Firefox on Vista x64 - what versions? I don't have a control-panel applet on mine.

Yeah, I had no issues before the reformat either :/

Anyway, in my plug-ins for Firefox, it says I have "JavaTM Platform SE 6 U13".

Like yourself, I never had to install the 64bit version of Java before, because I don't have a 64bit version of Firefox (there isn't an official one anyway, as far as I know?). The 64bit version of Java was installed to test with the 64bit version of IE8... just to see if it would work, and it did.

It's a strange one.

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin - and copy "npoji610.dll" to your Firefox plugins folder.

Make sure you do copy and paste.
