I dont know about anyone else, but the JAVA games on the mobile phones are getting pretty good. I am currently addicted on Townsmen 3 (Settlers) Ancient Empires 2 (Medieval Advance Wars) and Civ 3.
I am quite suprised at the playability and graphics standard for a game on a phone that is only 200k.
The main bonus is the phone is with me ALL the time, so that means the games are available ALL the time as well.
How many years will it be until the phones are on par with the GBA etc.

In Japan some phones are already superior to the GBA. They are miles ahead of use in terms of mobile gaming.

I remember Doom on my 7650 5 years ago, was amazing at the time

Not actually seen anything much better tho, despite years more work, java games have come a long way tho, got counsterstrike 3d on my k750i, only runs at 3fps lol but if you had a k800i, and it could run it full speed, might be on par with a GBA like the doom was years ago!

some of the most impressive mobile games i've seen are the series 60 ones like doom.

geopod also look awesome and ran very well on my old 3650 :)

some of the newer java games really are sweet too :)

yeah im sure some of the newer nokias can play ngage games etc

tony hawks and other n gage games where far better than gba games

yes i think the major problem with mobile games is not the graphics but more the fact nearly all of them are poor games in terms of gameplay and they suffer massive from a lack of proper control sets. The number pad and or joystick thing on most phones is just too crappy to play mosst games with.

Yep, exactly what I was going to say. I don't think there are really any mobile games that are better than even original GameBoy games and that's all down to the crappy control setup. The only mobile game i've played and really enjoyed is Tower Bloxx and that only used 1 button.

worms on the w810i is awesome. i love having a quick game in lecture or when waiting for the bus!

Nokia tried and failed with the Ngage, then Camera phones took off and dominated the scene. I've never been a big mobile phone gamer, generally hard controls because everyone wants a small phone not a massive PSP size brick. Lets see how things pan out.

There are pda phones with onboard graphics accelerators now made by nvidia that are superior to the psps, coupled with 128mb ram and 520mhz cpus, and running windows these will definatley set new standards in quality.

I would say most phones are already ahead of the gba definatley pda phones but a lot of other phones too.
