First, if I untick the 'Place icon in tray' in the control panel then it automatically reticks it when I open it up again. How can I stop this and hide the damn icon!

Second, when I try to open java apps it gives me and annoying warning message about the app not running the latest version of java, security issue etc etc. Is there a way to suppress these messages?

Thanks

If you have the icon in the "tray" you should be able to access the options from it.

I did this the other day and configured it not to autoupdate or even try to update itself. I then went into the reg/startup and removed the java entries. Might be easier to use msconfig or something similar.
