JBL BAR 1300 soundbar port placement query

I have a JBL BAR 1300 soundbar at home. It has a downfiring subwoofer. Currently it is placed at location "Subwoofer" as shown in the attached picture. Both the TV and the soundbar is placed at the location "TV + Soundbar". I feel the dialogs are not clear and crispy, even if the bass is kept at 2 or 3 on the remote.

May I know whether I should place the subwoofer of the soundbar at location 1 or 2 with the bass port of the subwoofer facing towards the sofa? Or shall I place it at location 3 with the bass port facing towards the TV?

Wouldn't matter, although if your room is square that is not ideal as it causes standing waves.

Give the sub crawl a go and mark down which spots sound best (based on where you can place it).

Mine is a small living room, so not much options left other than current subwoofer location or locations 1 & 3.

Still be worth trying it then. Stick the subwoofer in your seated listening position, then go sit/kneel in the locations and play something with good bass and then mark them out of 10 and then place it in the position with the highest score full time
