Apologies, I know not "hifi" but did not fit in PC sound and the Mobile forum seemed to be just about phones.

Is the Flip 5 still a good shout for a rugged portable speaker? I know is only SBC but should that be a concern?

I did look at the Anker Soundcore motion+ which has aptx support for the same price but does not look as rugged/easily portable.

Thanks for any input.

Recently went through choosing between the Flip 5 and the Clip 4. Tested both out for a few days. They both are really well made and both sound great. Honestly, the sound quality really surprised me. The Flip 5 goes deeper while the Clip 4 sounds more spacious.

After my few days testing, I decided to keep the Clip 4. The Flip 5 does sound better, but not that much better. The Clip 4 was better for me as it's a much more portable and solid speaker. Whenever I was going anywhere, I found myself reaching for the Clip 4 over the Flip 5 all the time. It's just so handy. The Flip 5 is well built too, but, I didn't get the same sense of bulletproofness that I got off the Clip 4.

I only mentioned the Clip 4 as you are looking for a rugged portable speaker.

As for SBC been a concern, I don't think it matters one bit in these types of devices.

Is the flip 5 a good device? Yeah, it's great. But, depending on your use case, the Clip 4 might be an even better shout.

Thank you, a very good reply.

Never looked at the clip 4 before but might pick one up anyway. The flip 4 is mainly going to bed used in the bathroom anyway and maybe for trips out/in the garden.

The clip 4 would be great for me when out by myself.
