Jane Birkin that most french of British singers has died aged 76. She scandalised the Pope and many radio stations with the lyrics of the above titled song, a duet with Serge Gainsbourg. An icon of the late sixties and early seventies in the UK and all her life in France.

Lived well.

Top totty, never claimed victimisation, (if I was less busy I'd quote the recent scribblings by that sensible siren and mega star Joan Henrietta Collins on women in the film world claiming sexual abuse by their benefactors), RIP, she always sounded like someone the late Jean-F might have had in his taxi, in the most innocent manner of course ;)

Serge had the charisma, probably doesn't conform with Tates view of the world(tate would relate to Picasso I guess) ; I don't think Brigitte Bardot was vulnerable like Marilyn, either;
rather that song's message was the antithesis of his relationship with Birkin, but, also prescient of 21st century casual relationships.

It must have a year or two ago there was an interview with her by the french guy who does occasional pieces on BBC radio about the impact of certain british people on french culture an interesting listen about her and Gainsbourg I keep looking to see if the BBC will repeat it. RIP
