I've been wearing Levi's 504 34" waist jeans for about a year now and they're starting to fall off me and are baggy around the arse. I have a few pairs and I notice that no two pairs are the same size and fit, which is pretty annoying. Although I'm happy with how long they last, are there any other brands to try that are a skinnier fit without looking like skinny jeans (hate them!). I'm fairly certain that my waist is actually 34" because work trousers fit perfectly!

Levis have gone down hill IMO - I've moved over to Wrangler who still, for now, make good stuff - their stretch series sound like what you are looking for.

Check where the Levis are made - they have like a dozen different factories around the world and no two of them seem to make quite the same jean for a given model and the quality has dropped below what they used to be 15 odd years back substantially.

If you have like a Debenhams or whatever they are called now near they usually have a good selection. I'm just slightly short of 6 foot, take 34" in formal trousers and the 34/34 Wrangler jeans fit me perfectly with a good balance between figure hugging but not skinny and ridiculous looking.

Same height as you but a 34" leg is too long for me. I'll see what these Wranglers are like as I can always send them back.

I hate nothing more than going shopping so try and do as much online. :(

In my experience, if you're going to buy Levi's you need to get them from the official shop (but wait for a sale). Those on sale from anywhere else tend to be american imports which seem to be made to a lower standard. Amazon are a bit hit and miss, I've had both the American type and the UK type from there.

You can generally tell by the Levis badge on the waist band. UK market Levis have a thick 2-3mm leather like badge, whereas American market Levis have an almost paper thin badge.

I dunno about US import versus UK market ones, etc. but before giving up on Levi I bought a load (around 2013 or 14 IIRC) from different places and found quite a bit of difference for the same model - those made in China, Bangladesh or Colombia had much thinner material, in some places only 1 row of stitching, etc. while those made in Portugal, Turkey, United States, Japan or Italy had better material, better fit and higher quality things like fastenings and badges, etc. all of them are way down on my older (late 90s/early 2000) Levis though.

I'm a Diesel convert.

At £90 a pair they are pricey, but the fit for me is perfect, and they are in perfect condition a year later (my Levis/Wranglers/Lee jeans usually start to get wear after a year)

I tried Diesel but they are very very baggy on me. Almost skater baggy, maybe it's because back then I was fat(er) and had a 36" waist.

My Levis were going through the heel and generally becoming tatty after a year - aside from some minor wear at the heel my Wranglers mostly look as new coming up on 2 years of the same conditions - will upload a pic when imgur upload is working again.

I agree, theres enough different cuts that I always find one that doesn't look baggy but fits at the thighs and is thin enough on the waist.

Worth the £100+ I paid last time. My first pair lasted for ages, that I just pay them now. I have 5 pairs of jeans I bought inbetween the first and second pair. They don't see the outside of my cupboard.

I wear the Zanity range (there aren't many bootcuts around these days) 30L or 32R, prefer the 30 as it makes my butt look fantastic (according to the gf).

My wear is pretty much always inner thigh, and both my Diesels are fine a year later.

That's the ones I tried, I think I still have a pair at home somewhere so may try and find them.

One thing I like about Diesel - they are one of the few that still does a good selection of darker/black jeans - so far though managed to get the same kind of thing - feels like same quality, same or better fit, etc. from Wrangler at half the price.

Due to my slim build and large feet, bootcut is a must, and I couldn't find any from Wrangler the last time I was shopping.
