Hi all

Im considering upgrading to a Piano Black Soprano DX with side window from my old centurion case. What do people think of these cases? i have only seen them in pictures online so am wondering what they are like for space and how good they look with internal lighting on the side window models.

Any insights good or bad and nice pictures would be fantastic.

Cheers

Ben

Going by past experience with a jeantech phong II then I was impressed with the quality for the price. Dunno if the soprano is the same.

Looks alright, quality won't be brilliant though (going by most Thermaltakes).

I can't actually find the DX variation of the case for sale anywhere though, so it all comes down to how much it will cost. ~£60 and it is pretty good value, any more than that and you're close to the Eclipse though which is an excellent case.

As ever for the same money PC7+II.

The list of cases really should go:

£30 = Zen
£45 = Soprano
£60 = PC7+
£85 = Eclipse
£110 = v1000+

But I have a feeling the soprano will not be cheap, it needs to be considerably less than a PC7+ to make it warrant any of my attention.

just been looking at the PC7, have to say at first i thought it looked a bit boring but just noticed you can get the side window and drive bezels etc, could be a very nice case. Seems everyone everywhere raves about its cooling potential too.

Cheers for the list Yewen :)

That case you linked to on OcUK is not the DX version you were talking about. The DX version has a metal front, 14cm front fan and e-sata port built in. It also appears to fir the 8800GTX which I don't think that Soprano does. The Jeantech looks nasty IMO.

The PC7 is an excellent case, I had one not long ago and it cooled my system fine with minimal noise and cable management is quite easy. As Yewen says for <£60 they are the best case you can buy, looks (subjective), cooling and quality wise. Plus you have the added bonus of being able to buy window kits etc. if you feel the need to.

I only changed case (to another Lian Li) because I wanted something smaller.

The akasa eclipse is around £110 delivered with 2 fans
people saying its in the 60/100 bracket its not at all
and 110 you could get far better for a few quid more.
The lian li v1000 is around 130 delivered so why anyone would want an eclipse is beyond me.

The Eclipse cools better than the v1000+ on air cooling and is easier to setup and get to grips with.

The v1000+ can be a pain with some systems to get the cooling right with reasonable noise levels, would have to be classed as a case designed for the connoisseur.
