So, bassist of OcUK, Am I the only the one that loves this bassline? Don't get me wrong I am no n00b, Portrait of Tracy.. Mastered, any Flea track, mastered, Victor Wooten is a project on going But what a great bassline? No?
Yeah, the high-register Eflat-F-Gflat bit provides a distinctive hook; it gives the song a bit of much-needed character
I think all bass players have a fondness for the odd low-falutin', few-frills bassline. My recent favourite is from the verse of Red Sparowes' "Buildings Began To Stretch Wide Across The Sky...", a deceptively simple arpeggiated phrase that pedals around an E-G-E sequence while underpinning some epic post-rock guitars. While straightforward note- and rhythm-wise, it's a good workout [especially for the pinky!] and fun to play.
Nice vid of it here, with bass-player focus [they're playing it a bit fast, mind ]:
