Jerky mouse movement?

hi guys,

basically when playing games such as Chronicles of Riddick and UT2004 the movement when panning left/right up/down is very jerky. Its irritatingly so, and would be so annoying as to make me quit the game!

I didn't really notice this until i got an XBOX 360. I have a NEC 20WGX2 monitor and when played through this the 360 pans very smoothly.

I've also noticed that when moving the mouse across desktop the arrow moves in a very jerky fashion.

System specs are -: XP2600 Radion 9800pro Saitek Gaming mouse.

Do you think this is a fault with the mouse, or is the system showing its age. When you pan with your mouse is the movement smooth, or is there any jerkiness in it!
 
Might be worth checking what sampling rate the mouse is using. PS2 defaults to 40hz and USB to 125hz. You can get utilities to increase this.

Obviously the other thing to consider is framerate. Ideally you want minimum fps to be higher than the refresh rate of your monitor.

Refresh rate is set at 6omhz. Increasing it to 75 makes things worse. Where do you get these utilities?
