oh I do like to be beside the seaside
Just seen the news that Jerry Collins and his girlfriend have died in a crash in France, their 3 month old daughter survived but is in a critical condition :(

He was a proper rugby player, hard on the pitch and a normal guy off it.

I still remember a Barbarians match where he was announced as Jerry Collins, New Zealand and Barnstable.

It turns out he'd been on holiday in Devon and a player from the Barnstable team recognised him and asked him if he'd come down to the club on a Friday to coach the youngsters.
He agreed and while he was there he asked if he could play on the Saturday, they said he needed to the registered, so he said he'd play in the 2nd team if that meant he could get a game.
So the next day while the 2nds were waiting for their team bus, up rocks Jerry Collins (who'd bought a pair of boots for the game), paid his share of the bus and played the match with them.

The next week he was due to play for the Barbarians and asked the Barnstable coach if he could wear their socks when he played :D
