Hi guys, has anyone been to this place? Any feedback would be much appreciated, as my girlfriend and a bunch of her mates are going. Just wondered what the thoughts on it are.

Thanks, ags.

Don't wear you best clothes in there; it's bound to get messy. It's tiny, dark and feels like it could cave in anytime. Student favourite, and you'll either love it or hate it. Filthiest toilets I have ever seen in a club. Good night out to be had though if you're in good company and in the mood. Clowns upstairs is an ok place to have a few drinks before.

its cheap, and nasty, but thats the point. Its a club where you dont have to care what you wear and being really ****ed is considered fine.
Its a student bar so its to be expected, although not as good as kaos cause its full of roundnecks :D

Hmmmm, what kind of people go there?

There will be a lot of us, well over 20. Me and the girlfriend are the only ones that haven't bought our tickets yet.

I like a bar that has friendly people in it, and all kinds of people, not a stereo typical bar.

Yeah you'll get all kinds of people there. Its not chavvy, its usually all Southampton uni students, but there all away for christmas i suppose. You going there NYE?

Yea, thats the plan, it's either that, or we go to london and watch the fireworks from the thames river... Still not sure yet.

I'm not fussed regardless, but cannot stand shav clubs so want to make sure it's not before committing to the option lol

It's not a chav club; it's usually got 20-25yr old students and their guests. Everyone is friendly though and it's so small and packed usually that you can easily get chatting (not my kind of thing to do though). Unless you go to the tables outside, you will be hard pushed to hold a decent conversation inside and again, the big tables are outside only.

Fun thing that can happen is guys AND gals taking their tops off when the Baywatch theme song comes on. DJ will happily play what you want.

Never seen trouble in there. It usually just boils down to what your taste in clubs are. As said, if it's not your cup of tea, there is Clowns pub/bar upstairs and a couple of more places nearby (if they are still there) - Dungeon, SoBar, several pubs in Portswood, etc

Cant say ive ever been in there! where abouts is it?

Portswood.

I believe Jesters was rated as one of, if not the worst clubs in England. :D

If you're in there and drunk it'll be fine, if not it'll probably be poor as you won't have any beer goggles on. :p

London sounds like the better option for NYE. I can't imagine it being that busy for NYE because as everyone else has said it's very much a student place to go.

You'll be like Dorothy in Wizard of Oz, but replace the yellow brick road with trail of purple sick..

I do miss Southampton :D

I have heard that worst club rumour, lol.

As with being busy, on the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if many students still in Soton did go there on NYE because of its popularity.

Well thanks for the input guys :)

We will be having a little house party before heading out, so I think it could be a right laugh as we are all (bar a few) in our mid 20's in terms of age, so that is handy. Why not :)

Get there drunk, drink more and you'll have a good night. Then up to Charcoal Grill or Manzils for after.

In that case I would recomend the hobit just at the top of the road there, thats not bad (pint cocktails are always good), or just go to my local, the firehouse in town (depends what music you like as its a rock/metal bar). Its a good place with friendly people in there. Or if you are feeling brave (and keep an eye on your drinks, this is a must!) try the dungeon or dinge as its known

Never heard of it! The furthest we usually venture into Portswood is Waitrose (or occasionally B&Q)!
Not going out for NYE but if we were would have probably headed to the Orange Rooms or Goblets followed by Soul Cellar - staying in and being boring instead! Old before my time!

It's the sort of place where you can have a good night if you have ingested enough alcohol to inebriate a sperm whale for a month.

Otherwise it's a dive. The few times I have been there, some eejit has tried to start a fight with me without provocation. I've literally been tapped on the shoulder, and turned around to some drunk idiot wanting to fight.
