Does anyone have any experience with this brand?

I'm going this weekend to look for a new Hi-Fi system down at Rayleigh Hi-fi & from a discussion I just had with a guy there on the phone he's recommended these to me along with Ruark & Monitor Audio speakers.

Now Ruark & Monitor Audio I'm familiar with but JM's I've only seen in pictures.
They look like they use Focal drive units from what I can see & in the car applications these are generally well respected drivers but I'm not sure in a home audio set up how they will fair.

So has anybody ever heard a set?
Are they worth considering along side the rest??

The rest of the system is still undecided as well but currently I'm leaning towards either...

Cyrus 6vs Amp
Cyrus CD6s CD Player

Roksan Kandy KA1 Mk3 Amp
Roksan Kandy MK3 CD Player

Audiolab 8000s Amp
Audiolab 8000CD CD Player

Music is generally a bit of everything but currently I'm hugely into my rock so whatever I do decide needs to be a pretty good all rounder.

I'm hoping if they have time on Saturday I can have a listen to most of those set ups but just so I know what I should expect do you have any info regarding what the speakers are like?

Thanks

Neil

JM labs are a well regarded French manufacturer and are one of the smaller numbers of groups who also make their driver units (most are bought in).
I believe that my own speakers use a driver from them.

Their speakers seem to regularly get good reviews, but frankly that's meaningless. Doesn't matter if someone else likes them. What matters is whether YOU like them. Give them a good dem and then let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the input Mr_sukebe.

I'm quite intrigued to hear what they sound like...the guy at Rayleigh Hi-fi was really raving about them so fingers crossed their as good as he's said.

I'm not sure which models he was referring to but hopefully they will fall within budget.

Will give you an opinion as soon as I get to have a listen :D

Thanks

Neil

Which store you going to, the Chelmsford one is my nearest dealer. Good bunch of guys, have helped me over the last year.... but they can push a bit of what they have to hand, not that they have any bad stuff in there, but dont be "pressured".... trust YOUR ears, not anyone else's.
Also add Rega electronics to your list...

I'm popping to the one in Southend, they've always been pretty good there...been back far too many times for demo's over the years :)

I find wherever you go though they are quick to push what they have, It's been like that ever since I first got into car audio & started to know what I was talking about...they dont stock it & it's instantly rubbish so I'm pretty used to ignoring what they say & deciding for myself ;) lol

I did have a listen to the Rega stuff a while back & was pretty impressed (That was back to back with some Arcam stuff at the time) so this time thought I'd drop it from the selection process & try a different setup within the same budget (Audiolab in this instance)

I think it depends on how busy they get at the weekend as to how much I get to listen to but I'm aiming to listen to the JM's with all the systems then try the other speakers after...gonna be a long day ;)

Just need to decide on what CD's to take now :(
