Il cut a long story short, but heres a brief background.

Went to college Sep 2004 for 2 years and studied a double award AVCE in ICT & Computing. Covered 12 units of a variety of ares of ict but nothing in that huge depth really. Left college in July 2006, I got a BC. I was studying an A+ exam but unfortunatly failed the software questions section (passed practical and the hardware questions). I applied for a few jobs, but didnt seem like there was a whole lot around at the time.

Unfortunatly i began playing wow and lets just say i became lazy, not always looking for jobs applying to them etc.

Fast foward to now, ive applied to several jobs since i left college and had a few interviews. Most was only one interview although one or two i did get a 2nd interview.

However, they all seem to end in the same way "The sucsussful applicant had more experience" or something close to that.

I've now quit wow and really want to fix my job situation out.

What i want to know, is it unlikely for me to get a job in it support now as its been over a year and a half since i left college. Was my course total crap ?

Thanks a lot in advance

you will unfortunately have to persist, maybe think about doing a course in your spare time in a specific area to widen your knowledge. it always looks good if you are willing to learn.

Whether you return to college now or later, the need of completing a industry recognised qualification will be inevitable at some point in an IT career. You can spend years at the bottom and work your way up, or you can start at the bottom and study part time/evenings/weekends, whatever it takes to complete it and move up the ladder within a shorter time span that it would just based on the hard slog of 'building experience'.

A balance of the two is what i would recommend.

Even if your unemployed right now, just get a office temping job and once there you may find internal vacancies for more IT related roles than data entry/filing/call centre etc.
