Just a quick query

On application forms where you have to provide references would you be at any disadvantage if you check/tick Do not contact referee without my consent or Do not contact referee unless i am offered the job or an interview?

It's just that i'm applying for another job and would prefer my current workplace not to know unless i get offered the job. I am providing two referee, one of which they can contact at anytime.

i put "Available on request" in the references bit

However, the references aren't normally contacted until after you start anyway.

This is like an online Local Authority application form with check boxes for contacting referees. I'm thinking because it's a job within a school where there is contact with children they will certainly require referees (so cant really put available on request as it seems dogdy) although i'm currently working in another school and have had an enhanced disclosure done.
