Applied for a job earlier on today on Monster [Job Category:Marketing/Product] it stated "no experience required we will train you" so i sent my cv and got a phone call back asking for an interview tomorrow. They then emailed me this:

"Dear James,

It was a pleasure speaking with you earlier. Congratulations on being selected to attend our preliminary round of interviews on Wednesday 22nd January at 17.30 hrs. Below are directions and a street map.

On arrival at our location, you will be presented a brief application form that you will be required to complete. One of the managers, Mr. Justin Cobb, will then conduct an informal preliminary interview, where you will be asked to provide an insight into your previous roles and responsibilities and how those experiences could benefit our company."

Bearing in mind i only have GCSE's as qualifications and since i've decided to leave college i'll have no higher grad qualifications. I've also never had a job before and have only done two weeks work experience at hobbycraft. So i can't really say much for previous roles and responsibilities :( But i guess i meet the rest of the qualities they asked for

Should i even bother going? I.e no chance of me getting the role?
Would it just be a waste of my time & theirs :/

It's worth a pop, you've nothing to lose, and at the very least it will be an experience you can learn from. You might even get the job - can you not use examples from school/your work experience two weeks/other events to try and impress? If it says in the ad no experience necessary, you may be able to impress them enough in the interview to make them consider you. I say go.
 
In a way they are asking how quickly you will adapt to the new working environment. Thats what previous experiance is sort of all about, how quickly you will learn the new job, if you get it. It should'nt be a problem as it said no previous experiance required.
 
Ah thanks for your input guys, as Mohinder said i have nothing to lose i guess. I suppose i could explain in detail my work experience roles and responsibilities at school (prefect), and mention how these qualities could benefit in the working environment.
 
It's about attitude, of course you should go, if only for the interview experience. Would expect it to be a telesales job though, most probably cold-calling.

* Sales & Marketing. This job involves face to face sales of services (NO telemarketing - NO direct mail)
* Team Management
* Campaign Coordination
* Territory Assignments
* Teaching and Development of Subordinates

Apparently not which is fortunate because i would hate to do cold calling.

Time to find my suit..
 
Good luck in the interview!! Defo go cause it's valuable experience no matter that the outcome.

p.s. I lol'd at them wanting an Aggressive applicant.

That means you will be a door to door salesman, probably selling whatever is the latest promo from random company.
They will generally take on any monkey as the pay is very low + commision or commision based only.
