Firstly I hope this is the right section, as it seems to be with DIY and what not.

Well me and the family have a 1994 Abbey County Somerset caravan, bought it cheap and realised why it was soooo cheap, had damp. Well over last few months i've resealed the awning rails, and have also done some other rails on it.

Went away in march and realised the heater wasn't working, so looked on the bay of e and found a full heater system, including electric heating and blown air kit all for the princely sum of £100, new they're about £700 including blown air and electric.

Well i've spent the last week installing it, running the blown air ducting, and having to make the cutout in the floor smaller, as old heater vented out underneath the van, new one is through roof so also had to put a hole in the roof!!! Daunting as holes in caravans can mean leaks and damp problems. Well i've finished apart from the gas connection which will be connected when it's serviced next month.

I have to day that it's a massive improvement over having no heating, also having the electric heating means that it's cheaper to run when we go away!!

I've also decided to fit my old stereo out of the car in it, so spent yesterday putting the speakers in and finding ways to run wires. Will update with pics tomorrow when i've got some, been too busy getting it all in to take pics.

Anyone else have a caravan and do DIY on it yourselves?
