Joe Rogan and Spotify

Just because it's offensive, doesn't mean it's not true. It's a sad fact that black violent crime rates are much higher than white.

I knew there would be at least one poster who supported this klaxon of a dog whistle.

Here is another one for you.

There is speculation that there could be a gene that makes Jews great with money and controlling finance.

True, but in this case it probably isn't true. I don't know enough about that particular gene but IIRC this is based on some flawed studies and has then been picked up by some right-wing types who've run with it.

Yes black people in the west do commit violent crime at a higher rate than other ethnic groups but that isn't necessarily the result of this gene, could well be attributed mostly to cultural issues. Like if you looked at recent African immigrants to the US separately to African Americans you'd see a huge contrast, Nigerian Americans are up there with Indians and Jews as a top-performing group - outperforming white people in education etc...

Whether in future we might find some heritability aspects re: propensity to violence etc... I guess it is perhaps an open question, maybe it turns out to be quite small, maybe it's actually more common in Asian people or in white people and cultural issues are a much bigger factor.

Rather tellingly though Rogan's reaction/follow-up question to that right-wing guy doesn't seem to be included in the clip that is circulating, which indicates that Rogan has probably had a reasonable reaction and they'd rather not include it if they want to smear him.

Where did @mcast123 state it was genetic?

Maybe @mcast123 can clarify their statement.

@mcast123 was replying to @Colonel_Klinck:

I'm trying to find a longer clip of when he had Chuck C Johnson on who made a ridiculous claim that black people have a gene that makes them more violent.

Just because it's offensive, doesn't mean it's not true. It's a sad fact that black violent crime rates are much higher than white.

The implication is that because black violent crime rates are higher, the claim made by Chuck C Johnson is true.

Part of the problem is that in the west we have a massive issue with attributing anything negative to culture unless its directed inwards towards the white majority population. The truth is that different cultures have different issues with different things and if you don't acknowledge and address them then you will never actually fix the issues they cause.

When you think down lines of colour it falls apart very quickly which is why racism makes no sense. White people from different areas are massively different from each other and the same is true for people of all other colours. If you instead look at culture and economic issues then it becomes far easier to comprehend.

When I first heard this last year I must have interpreted it wrong.
I come from an history of Irish Travelers, no idea if they were ever Gypsies, but I took his 'joke' has nobody cares about the slaughter of Gypsies because of the drip fed feed of them over the years.
Like I say, everybody else seems to be hearing something else so I'm not going to argue about it.

Carr was a poor statement of irony about how nobody really cares about the non Jewish people who suffered equally in the holocaust, at least I think that was his aim but I can definitely see how people would find it crass although to think of it of anything more than a poor joke is as equally bad judgement as the joke itself

The uproar about 'His Dark Material' is quite amusing, because if you actually watch it with all the context including him stating it's clearly a joke and that you might as well be educational with it as the focus is mainly on the "6 million". It's quite obvious where Carr is going with it.

He has a brilliant summary at the end why we need dark humour which should, if actually watched, put any hysteria at rest.

Stand up comedy and comedy in general should cross lines, what one persons finds offensive another will laugh like hell. Not a fan of people going after comics for their material. Even the likes of Roy Chubby Brown, although I support any venue choosing to not host a particular act, he should still be free to perform his act. I'm amazed people still watch him tbh. I found it funny as a 16 year old in 1987 when I worked on a building site for a few weeks and they used to play the tapes in the break hut, now it would just be full on cringe.

Edit: I actually hadn't seen the Carr skit, just watched it and I laughed.

The Jimmy Carr special literally has warnings before it, including directly from him. If people are offended by it then they didn't try very hard to avoid it!

I've always liked very dark humour personally. Much of it seems to be a coping mechanism for awful incidents.

Yeah, humour is a great way to deal with horrific events. Its why "is it too soon?" gets asked so often.

I just found Lost Prophets on Spotify, but obviously Joe Rogan being on there is more outrageous, not to mention Bill Cosby and R. Kelly.

Chris Brown too, it could go on.

But a podcast host with controversial guests?

Honestly the young generation are called ********** but all these boomer musicians leaving to try and make a statement must be having a laugh? Soft much.

and personally I don't think all those on the News and papers have actually seen the full sketch, they are basing their thoughts on a headline.
One of my mates put something on Facebook chastising Carr so I sent him the full video sketch and he decided to take his post down.

I just heard that the recent purge of Joe Rogan episodes was done by him taking his own podcasts down. The Spotify CEO says they didnt do it.

Spotify CEO apologizes but backs Rogan after racial slur episodes are removed
https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/spotify-ceo-apologizes-backs-joe-rogan-rcna15106

Daniel Ek said in a letter to employees that Joe Rogan decided to remove some episodes of the podcast and that his past comments “do not represent the values of this company.”

sounds like Boris backing Patterson ......

not hard to see on youtube - but just a cheap joke - it's not impromptu did he need to do it
edit: links to jewish news - nothing suspicious
Anger at Jimmy Carr for 'appalling' Holocaust joke in latest Netflix special

I don't understand why Jews are upset. They aren't the butt of any part of the joke. Are they saying you can't do any joke around the holocaust? If so that is ridiculous. No subject is protected like that and neither should it be. I wonder if they've all actually watched it.

You don't go to a show called Darkest Material expecting jokes about bunnies. It was always going to be dark and the audience would have known that.
