Well, here goes.
I have been looking for a new job, one mainly it focused as it pays more and i also in carfiff so i dont have to comute for 2 hours each day.
So up pops john lewis system support technican, so i applied for it an got through.
I went to the inter view, i happened to be the youngest person their, and the only one their who had happend to actually bulit his own rigs in the past and has worked with operating systems out side of windows.
The first "assesment" was to build a sodding lego house! I myself cannot see any relative simeralities to building a lego house and keeping a pc network running, but i may have missed a part in advance pc maintance...
So i built the sodding house as a exact copy of the model they had from memory, and shared the idea's on how to construct it with the rest of the group.
So the next "assesment" Is to chose 5 words that mean the most to the customer, Rember this is a technical systems support role with limited or no customer interaction. So i did this yet again and shared and debate which one would be the correct five.

Then out of the blue sorry we no longer need you for this postiton, instead they hire the 3 old guys and a girl who didnt even know whatrole she was applying for.
Every time i try to improve my life i seem to get ****ed by some one or something. I could easly do that role it was simliar money for less hours and a 40 minute commute.

Mate, you really need to work on your spelling and grammar.

1/10 see me.

I had untreated Dyslexia as a kid, so i apologise for my rants spelling & grammer mistakes.
But i had all my writen correspondents prove read by a friend, so that wasnt the issue.
Sorry for my out burst, i feel like ****, ive applied for so many jobs and been turned down from every single one. My self confidance is at a all time low, mixed in with a job where im payed next to minimum wage for 50 + hours a week but can't leave it.

That + plus lack of a decent future = my spelling.

Agreed. The method gives everyone an opportunity to show their communication and team work skills rather than being asked questions, which quite frankly, you can lie.

You can have 4 decent technicians in a team but if one can't work within that team then he/she becomes a liability and the team breaks down. I've seen this happen and only recently too.

John Lewis is a great company to work for, they are not Tescos. A missed opportunity I think.
my feedback say's:
Apperatly i lacked charcter projection???
What the hell is charcter projection?

Means you were shy and didn't work well in the team, you had a chip on your shoulder about being in a group with other people who weren't as technical as you and it showed.

KaHn

So hang on if i choose my word, and don't spurt out constant flow of crap that makes me a bad person to employ?
maybe i should just stick to **** jobs, and work myself nto a early grave.

No it means that employment is more than someone who can get the job done, something which you aren't getting, it is normally why you find managers are not technically minded but are very good people persons.

KaHn

So your saying i need to improve my people skill's, Any surgestion's on who i go about acomplishing that?

The problem OP has is that you are applying for jobs at the bottom rung, 'IT support' these days is virtually unskilled labour so they are looking for more than just the ability to read a flowchart but things like drive to succeed, willingness to take on responsibility, work successfully in a team and suchlike - hence the various exercises.

I would apply for other job's, but all the decent work seems to have dried up in south wales, im checking cardiffjobs totaljobs, got my c.v on monster. But their is absaloute f all, the few jobs that are availble at a higher level people are asking fro stupid amount sof experiance.
I got turned down for a office junior role because i didnt have enoth office experiance, which i found hilarious when i tried to figure out where im supposed to get office experiance from.
Also the fact people are taking the **** in the engineering sector unless you've got a degree in the subject. The last two plant tech. jobs i saw were both barely over the miniumum wage, and were a good 45 hour per week.
The only place that is giving out good wages in south wales for engineering and is hiring is dow corning, but i doubt ill get a look in with them.Mainly because i only have a btec in engineering

???????????

So you were competing for a job and decided to help out your competition (who might well have otherwise failed spectacularly) and now you're annoyed that some of them got chosen ahead of you. I don't think you did yourself many favours there.

worked as a group to each reproduce the same model. sorry if i worded it badly.

What words were they that you picked?

honesty, ethusiastic, knowlegdeable, high standerds & integrity.
Probally all spelt incorrectly.
but apperently according to one person in this forum i'd rather complain than get on with the job, in that case ill take a wad of benefits for my physical disablity and give up working all together.
