Should be Andy Gray and Motson, that would be sweet. Jonathan pierce just makes me think im watching robot wars. :D
 
I don't like Motson. I don't like the sound of his voice, he has a hard time keeping up with the game, he seems to think we need a connection to an English club before we know who he's talking about ("ah yes, you'll remember Player X when he was sent off against Arsenal in the Champions league"), his pronunciation can be awful (as can most commentators, granted) and I think he generally ruins a game.

He's probably forgotten more about football than I'll ever know though.

I turn the commentary off when ever I can, it makes things much more enjoyable, especially England games.
 
Didn't realise there was so much hate for the guy. I think he's a legend.

The beeb have trouble getting him a worthy commentator alongside him (Lawro certainly aint it) and I think he suffers for that.
 
I think i first realised Motson and Gray were a winning combination when i played Fifa 97! :D

edit// Yeah i like Motson too, his voice just makes me think of England matches and drunken footy viewings at the pub. I can't see who'd be a worthy replacement...

He's the worst commentator I have ever had the displeasure of listening to. Best thing BBC did was allow for you to put 5Live commentary on through digital.

He uses too many "Maybe" and "Possibly" instead of saying what actually happened. He's too proper and says stupid stuff. I really hate the man. He also knows very little about football himself, instead, remember facts that are written down before the game.

And on the topic of Lawrenson, the BBC are stupid getting him in, the man was laughing when we (England) got knocked out by Portugal. Getting a foreigner to commentate on English games as first choice is shocking.
The fact they took a foreigner instead of LeSaux, a man who is England through and through and bled for the country is a disgrace.
