John Terry... you rat!

50-60% of men cheat. Now take the men that are rich, famous in good shape and surround them with easy women AND put him into a 'lads culture' and that figure will sky rocket towards 100%.

Oh yes I completely agree, 100% of top class footballers cheat on their wives

Bull****.

We don't hear about the majority of footballers who are perfectly nice, friendly people because that doesn't sell newspapers, we only hear about them "getting paid too much" "cheating" "crashing expensive cars" because it sells newspapers.

Terry is by no means the only premier league/england player to have cheated. If it doesn't affect his performance then he should remain captain of england and chelsea. He is england's best captain and I don't look to any footballers as role models anyway (apart from Lamps of course! :p)

Its not about Terry's performance anymore, if he loses the respect of the rest of them team, then he won't be the Skipper for much longer.

The difference between Terry and the other players who have played away from home is that Terry did the dirty on a team mate. How can the other players have any respect for a guy who thinks nothing about having an affair with your partner.

Lampard for captain! In fact now that I think of it, he'd be perfect as everyone likes him and he always talks sense. :)

Captains need to be role models on and off the pitch. Terry is far from it off the pitch, he's slept with a team mates partner, Taken money on the side.. It's not what you expect from a club captain let alone the captain of he national side.

With the cheating he may well of lost the respect of players, which could affect him on the pitch.

As I said I don't think he should be captain, but they're aren't any other stand out replacements. Rio was banned for something drug related, gerrard beats people up, lampard is fat, Rooney sleeps with hookers, cole is a ****, ec ect

I can assure you that not everyone likes him. :p

And his England performances are questionable.

Maybe not by some rival fans, but the sporting world and players all have a lot of respect for him as do I. I think the England squad maybe bar Rooney in the last year have had some questionable performances. :p

Rio was banned for something drug related

What sort of Man Utd fan are you if you don't know what happened? :p :p

But his performances have been questionable. Not everyone likes him and as for talking sense? What? Haha

Im sorry but Rio really is NOT Englands best defender I would much rather have JT than him.

Who for captain though? Tough choice imo theres not really many leaders in the England team theres no one I can really see barking orders about other than Rio/JT tbh those guys I would listen.

I dont think Gerrard/lamps/Rooney could commanding the team as much.

Rooney shouldnt be captain as said on Focus today he should just be allowed to play football thats when hes comfortable.

But his performances have been questionable. Not everyone likes him and as for talking sense? What? Haha

They all have. Practically everyone who has played for England in the last few years has had questionable performances. It doesn't mean he can't be captain or will show his quality during the summer. And yeah he talks a lot of sense and is a very widely respected player both on and off the pitch by his fellow players and coaches.

I'd let it be for the moment. If he loses respect in the dressing room then it should be dealt with.

There's no point in causing a problem if there isn't going to be one.

Lampard is never questionable for England, he just plays his role. Unlike Gerrard who hogs the ball and runs up the middle, no matter if he's asked to play defensively, offensively in the middle, as a left or right winger, he does what he wants to the detriment of the team.

Lampard for England almost always takes the defensive role, sits back, doesn't play to his strengths and is still very good, just not banging in goals and getting as many assists because he's got the sense, the discipline to play the role needed rather than the one with the most glory(Gerrard again).

People that question he performance when he's doing what needs to be done and sacrifices his own glory for the good of the team, need shooting.

Its also that kind of behaviour and discipline that make him a great candidate for being captain aswell, added to the fact that as far as I'm aware, he hasn't done much wrong off the field. Though I'll be honest I don't know a huge amount about it, he has kids from an ex-wife/girlfriend, but they broke up as opposed to him cheating on her, who knows.

Being a loud foul-mouthed git isn't actually whats required of a captain. Discipline, reading the game, consistancy in performances. The shouting has NOTHING to do with being a captain, its the quiet word from someone who can read the game, the reading of a weakness of an opponent, or a strength and letting others know.

But really for me its the fact that he doesn't run around in the box pulling everyone to the ground and he doesn't dive frequently which makes him the best option for captain. I'm embarassed that Terry is and I'd be embarassed if Gerrard represented England at a world cup as captain, while diving his way to trying to win.

Personally I'd also say Cole is the best defender at Chelsea, and for England, just not the best centre back.

If the England players have lost respect for him over this and I'm sure some will, then he isn't the best captain for England to have going into a world cup. The captaincy isn't about having the best squeaky clean image, it's about commanding respect from the players around him. If/when that alters someone else needs appointed.

Spot on.

Rooney gets my vote (and that's coming from a Gooner).

Rooney gets my vote as well, and I'm a Liverpool fan.

He's not squeaky clean, although over the last few years has got so much better; it's rare to see him in the paper for the wrong reasons, and rare to not see him on the back page for all the right reasons every week!

He's playing fantastically, and one of the top few players in the world at the moment. A lot of commitment, a lot of passion, and to be honest an all round role model.
