There's a couple of Aussie guys do a cycling podcast I listen to (promise it is better than it sounds!) and they are sponsored by Join Cycling, an Ai training app. I decided to give it ago started yesterday and did my second workout this morning. Pretty good so far although early days. You can tell it what you want to achieve and what your availability is and it builds a program for you which I believe alters if you miss sessions or change them up a bit. They are scored by intensity and training stress then it compares what you did afterwards to what the aim was and scores you out of 10. I connected it to zwift and strava and you can just push your days training to zwift and it's there on the screen when you log in, all set up and ready to go - just pick your route and off you go in ERG mode. Pretty impressive.

I was looking forward to seeing if it changed things around a bit as tomorrow it is asking for a 2/5 intensity endurance ride but I normally do a very fast group ride on a Wednesday, however, been invited to a boozy lunch this afternoon so likely won't make it.

Anyone else use it? Its a 7 day free trial on the website but you can get 30 days via the podcast referral, or I can refer you and get us both 30 days. Don't need a credit card to sign up either :)

So changed up todays training and did some VO2 max efforts it had planned for me for sunday. Won't be riding sunday, also will be doing a pretty big outdoor ride Saturday morning (130km, 2,500elv) so will be skipping that session too. It has updated my plan as a result. Now this morning I pushed Sundays workout to Zwift and did it all (was very hard), got all the stars in Zwift. However it has rated my workout as a 2.5/10 as I have missed all the target zones and exceeded some of the others - obviously.
Actually playing around a bit more in the app just now I probably should have used the plan ride or workout function instead. Looks like I could have picked a VO2 max efforts and maybe it would have dialled down the intensity. I've cancelled sundays plan and put in estimated RPE and duration for saturday. Its now put in a rest day for monday. See how it goes!

Yeah its availability days and duration, rather than time.

Im still on the trial and getting to grips with it, have moved things around a lot this week. Had planned a mega outdoor ride last weekend but canned that due to the bushfires. First race of WTRL tonight, moved my fast group ride from Wednesday to Thursday due to needing a brake bleed today, and switched the big climbing ride to this saturday coming and it has shuffled things around a bit. Will see how I feel after Saturday.

Did the 10 x 2 power intervals last night. Wasnt quite fuelled and prepared for 2 x 10 mins at 280w with a 60rpm cadence. Bailed out of the second set halfway through

Joined the join group also :)

I'm doing the FTP builder after a bit of a layoff over Christmas and NY. I do a few weekly tough group rides so have put them in there and I'm trying my best to follow the suggested training.

I got a 10% of a 12 month sub offer email. Seems a bit tight!
I convinced a pal at the weekend to give it a go so should be able to extend my trial by a month

I opened the app today, to see my trial period has ended. I didn't get any offers, so have uninstalled the app.

I might just take a look at doing some of Zwift's training sessions...
Yeah, all i got was a 10% off a full years sub. My trial is up too. I liked it but I am wondering if chat GPT or something can replicate it? I've seen my mates use AI generated training programmes and they look quite good but wonder if they can somehow integrate with Strava or whoop to analyse your data and see if you need to dial it down a bit?

Tried it in Chat GTP

If you'd like, tell me:

  • Your current weekly mileage
  • Whether you train indoors (Zwift/trainer) or outdoors
  • Your specific goal (weight loss, sportive, race, Ironman, FTP increase)
  • How many hours per week you can train
And I’ll customise this into a precise plan just for you.

can you see my strava or whoop data and recognise when I am in need of a rest>?

Short answer: No — I can’t see your Strava or WHOOP data automatically.

I don’t have access to external accounts like:

  • Strava
  • WHOOP
Unless you manually paste or upload your data here, I can’t view it.

But — yes, I can analyse it for you

If you share things like:

  • Weekly training load
  • Resting heart rate (RHR) trends
  • HRV trends
  • WHOOP recovery scores
  • Sleep duration
  • Recent ride intensity (TSS, time in zones, etc.)
  • How you feel (very important)
I can absolutely help you determine:

  • If you’re under-recovered
  • If you need a rest day
  • If you’re approaching overtraining
  • Whether to push or back off

What I’d Look For (Recovery Red Flags)

WHOOP Signals

  • 2–3 consecutive days of low recovery (red zone)
  • HRV trending downward for 3+ days
  • RHR elevated 5–10 bpm above baseline

Strava / Training Load Signals

  • Sharp spike in weekly load (>20% jump)
  • Multiple high-intensity days stacked together
  • Power/pace dropping at normal effort

Body Signals (Most Important)

  • Heavy legs that don’t “open up”
  • Poor sleep despite fatigue
  • Irritability or low motivation
  • Elevated perceived effort at easy pace

If you’d like, paste:

  • Your last 7 days of strain/load
  • HRV + RHR trend
  • Sleep hours
  • How you feel (1–10)
I’ll tell you honestly whether you need:

  • Full rest
  • Active recovery
  • Reduced intensity
  • Or if you’re good to train hard
And I’ll explain the reasoning behind it.

Got the 50% off a 12 month plan email today. I'll probably go for it, got until 2nd March to decide. Thing is though I'm really only going to be "training" through winter. Im currently racing Tuesdays, fast group ride Thursdays and 5+ hour climbing ride on the weekend. Stress score is so high that Join has me on rest days every other day anyway!
