I'm interested in joining the army but i'm going to be 31 this year. I read on the the army website that they can accept people aged upto 33.

Anyone have any knowledge or expereince?

They've relaxed the rules on ages you can join, so yeah, it's now up to 33, where it used to be 29, except for Infantry IIRC. So the best advice is get down to your local Armed Forces Careers Office and have a chat with them.

The army is pretty busy at the moment with recruitment, they are being very selective so your age may be against you, saying that a 32 year old dude passed out at selection with me with an A grade in july last year. Saying that recruitment wasn't that busy then.

Best just pop in they are always up for answering any questions. Chance of recruitment also depends a lot on your trade, some trades are more empty or full than others, mine for an example is still looking for people I beleive, REME Armourer.

considered the RAF age range is upto 36 there (im 29 myself) so ive been looking into it check a few pages back in this forum for my thread about joining the RAF some really good info in there

if your interested that is :)
