Jon Theodore leaves the Mars Volta!

I'm pretty shocked and appauled. The drumming on the new stuff is immense, and IMO he was the best thing about TMV I was really looking forward to seeing him do the new stuff live, but I guess I won't get to now

Yea I heard about this recently (not through NME though ), and it's a damned shame, Jon Theodore is one of my favourite drummers ever.

Still, with a band like TMV they cannot rest on their laurels... at least such a move will force them to adapt and possibly save them from an ease into mediocrity.
