Jones in the fast lane

Does anyone remember this game ? I was fascinated by it when I was younger, but having just played it again it's actually amazing bad.

Does anyone know of a more modern game based around the same kind of concepts ? The Sim's is the obvious one, are there anymore ?

This game is actually engraved in my memory.

Back when we were going to get a CD-ROM drive for the first time (Wooooo!) my dad only had a short time to get to the computer store in Belfast (quite a few miles away from us). Queue us in the car flying down the motorway at about 80mph. Got there in time, looked for a game to get to try out the newfangled CD-ROM, and there was "Jones in the Fast Lane" (my surname is Jones).

Didn't get it though....bought "Isle of the Dead" instead, and was well ****** off to discover it was the "Red Version", whatever that means, and didn't have any of the cool gory animated death scenes.
