I don't post here much any more and mostly lurk but I did a search and I didn't see much mention of Jónsi so I felt a bit of an obligation to mention his new album Go.
For those who don't know Jónsi is/ was the lead singer of Sigur Rós who are currently on a break. Sigur Rós are an Icelandic Post Rock band and Jónsi has continued in a similar theme but is I believe more accessible. The new album, his first solo venture makes a break from Sigur Rós as it is sung mostly in English as opposed to Icelandic/ Hopelandic it is also musically much more accessible but maintains the use of unusual instruments played in unusual way making a unique sound.
Jónsi himself has a unique voice singing in a high range almost ethereal at times, he is something very special.
We went to his second London gig last night and it was one of the most amazing concerts I have seen both physical set wise and musical set wise, very very special. He is coming back later this year and although I'd love to go again we be at home with our brand new baby, but I wanted to share this gem with people because if just one person goes to that concert because this thread got them listening to Jónsi then I'll be delighted.
If I remember rightly I can't post YouTube links here but if you go to YouTube and search for Jónsi pretty much the whole album is available and the Victory Rose website has pictures of the set for the gig.
Also worth a look is the website where you can stream the album, I think there is some concert footage there too.

I hope that some people will give him a try.
