Hi all

Has anyone got a good Joomla tutorial book recommendation? It really should cover version 1.5 and include tutorials for template changes.

Thanks in advance

Hi Tony.

Have you had a look at the tutorial that comes with Joomla it is quite extensive and the support on the Joomla website is quite good. I have been using Joomla for a few years on a few sites. If you want any help send me a pm to my trust email or add me to MSN

Cheers for that. I thought the wiki tutorial on template changes was quite thin on the ground. Am I looking in the wrong place?

What is it your trying to do ?

If it is Joomla 1.5.x then installation is pretty straight forward and the CSS can be edited within Joomla

I made a copy of the default template and started to edit it but was confused where things were. Ill MSN you at some point.

Just mess with it would be my advice.

When I first kicked off with it I had to make a post as to how to make a new "page" which I later worked out to be static content. Its a massive learning curve but now Ive done all sorts of customisations to the front end and back end.

There are plenty people on here who will help but the joomla community I have found to be very good and quick at replying.

My dealings with it have been purely love/hate.

Joomla first appears as something very easy and a base that takes a lot of the hard work away from building a site. However I strongly feel the whole workings of Joomla are over complicated and it annoys the crap out of me. Having a WYSIWYG editor is great, however if you need to do something abit more shall I say creative its a nightmare of reading forums, finding out why certain plugins arent working properly, and just such a pain in the arse. The backend interface needs lots of work still IMO to make it truely a painless option for all web builders

Having said that i've started again building a site with it :p
