I'm toying with the idea of scrapping my current website (www.piggott.me.uk) and replacing it with a prebuilt CMS. However I'm stuck between Joomla and Wordpress. Was wondering if anyone on here had experience with either or both and could comment? Just after general opinions really to help me decide.

Thanks, null :)

I recently switched to Joomla for my website (see sig). I never had any experience with a CMS before so was quite worried about messing my site up. But its awesome to use, very powerful for the experienced user and even the beginner can soon get the max out of it.

It took me about an hour to get used to the interface, and get used to where everything was. After that it was so simple to use and I wouldnt ever not use it for a site.

I use Joomla for large website projects, and Wordpress for blogging. Wordpress has better markup and if you're looking at standards then it's much better. But, if you need primarily CMS over blog content, i.e. various content types and lots of features it might be worth looking at Drupal. It's very flexible and well written. Joomla will be easier to get to grips with, so it really depends on your knowledge. Or, you can join the two together. I think I remember seeing a Wordpress component for Joomla; get the best of both worlds :)

Hope this helps mate

I've used Joomla for a society website at uni. I did try it first on Wordpress, but it seemed to be more of a blogging softare than a CMS.

Joomla was quick and easy to setup, and I can add/edit things on the site in minutes.
