Is there a script or any other method of showing the last 5 entries in a specific category in a table?

What kinda table, i know theres things for last 5 uploads for remository etc.

I'd like a table on my front page. In one cell i'd like the last 5 posted articles in one section, and in another cell have the last 5 posted artciles in another cell. If that makes sense.

There's a component called "Section-Ex" that might do what you want. It didn't do what I needed it for so I haven't played with it that much, but it might help you.
