Hi,

So I had to return one of my 2405FPW's as it had developed a fault, reported it Friday and the courier turned up today, I've got to say that Dell's replacement process is pretty damn slick!

So I gave the courier my monitor and he left me what I thought was another 2405FPW. When I actually opened the box I found that it was actually a 2407WFPb!

Now the problem is that I have dual 2405FPW's so this one doesn't match my other screen :( What chance do you think I have of getting Dell to replace my other (working) 2405FPW with a 2407WFPb?

Failing that do you think I should hang onto the 2407WFPb that Dell has sent me and sell my 2405FPW and buy another 2407WFPb?

My last option I guess is to ask Dell to send me a 2405FPW rather than the 2407WFPb which they sent me this morning!

Cheers

swap for my 2405? ;)

Ah nice try, I want to try and hold onto the 2407WFPb if at all possible! ;)

Dual 2407WFPb's would be sweet, here is my current dual 2405FPW rig!

Was the monitor they left you a brand new one or a refurb?

I have a small issue with my 2405FPW...when gaming @ 1680x1050 (maybe other resolutions, not checked into it), four inches of the screen, right across from left to right, between the middle and the bottom, has weird lines and bending graphics when there is movement.

ie if I stand still on an FPS, it looks fine, but as soon as I move the camera, this area of the screen has weird lines going across, and the graphics flexes slightly. It's really hard to explain, I may try videoing it next time it happens.

I'd been thinking it was my graphics card, but the problem goes away if I switch to a different input, then back to DVI, or if I switch it off and on.

The problem is not evident outside of games, at native resolution. Things I've yet to try, is running all games at 1920x1200 for a while, to see if the issue is evident at native too. It appears as though my X1900 with the Omega 6.5 drivers won't scale the image to fit the screen, even though it's set to in the control panel...so it could be the monitors scaler...

Heh guess it was new then! :p

I imagine dell package refurbs to make them look new though. Seems the 2407 still has a few niggles that the 2405 doesn't...nothing serious though, depending on what your doing with it I guess!

Well I've got one of the 2407WFPb up on my NeoFlex arm, the good news is that the 2407WFPb seems lighter than the 2405FPW which is good as they stuggled before.

My other 2407WFPb should be delivered tomorrow and then its time for dual 2407WFPb action, pics to follow ;)

by the way, are these monitors about the best for gaming? i think the dell's look the best, but are there any rivals price and performance wise?
