Folks,

I know this might be a silly question, but I just dont know where to ask.

I play WWI and WWII flight simulations for years now, and have been looking for a good joystick. Most of the joysticks come with a number of buttons with all sorts of programmable features which I don't feel realistics.

What I am really after is a flight stick with a throttle controller at the most. Anyone happens to know of one that you can recommend?

Thanks!
Peter

Heh, i looked at the thread title and laughed a little :p

Anyway I have one at home that's got a throttle and a decent number of buttons, will post the model when i have a chance. Dunno how it rates but I have no complaints with it :)

To be honest though I use an xbox controller these days rather than a joystick. Not sure if i should feel bad for this :(

I think I've still got a Logitech WingMan force 3D stick somewhere tucked away that my Dad was going to bin. Not sure if it works as it hasn't been used for years.

What, it's more realistic to have to use your keyboard instead?

Flight simming, unless you have ooodles of cash to purchase every concievable peripheral has always been about compromise, if you really feel that way then just don't use the buttons.

I bought a x52 and a logitech 3d pro force feedback....

The x52 joystick is pathetic but the thrust is amazin. The force feedback is great when turning or pulling high G's it actually puts force against your hand when turning.!

Thrustmaster Hotas X is a great cheap option, then you have the X52/X52 Pro for a midrange option, after that the prices start to get a little crazy.

It sounds like you play flight sims a lot so I would go for the X52/X52 Pro unless you want to spend silly money. The X52 Pro is supposed to have a more tightly sprung stick and nicer materials all round than the X52, so I would reccomend you get the Pro.

I personally think rudder pedals is essential if you are going to spend hours playing flight sims, twist rudder will do for most of us but you will want a set of rudder pedals if you play flight sims extensively. Gives you very fine control of the rudder!

also you mentioned not wanting lots of buttons, in that case you could look at ch products, which are designed to look realistic and also are exceptional quality.
