I currently have a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback stick which I've had for years and still works perfectly. It's a gameport (not USB) device.

I've just discovered that apparently there will be no gameport support in Vista which is something I will be moving to sooner or later so I need to consider a USB stick. I'm a bit disapointed really and hate to abandon a perfectly working joystick especially as it was quite expensive when I bought it.

I'd want a stick with an 8 way hat switch, force feedback isn't essential but I quite like it! I presume MS no longer make anything similar as there is nothing on their site. I'm not sure I want to go as far as some of the Saitek/Thrustmaster controllers but may consider them as they aren't quite as expensive as I thought they might. It will be more FS9/FSX that it used with as opposed to combat sims.

Any recomendations?

Saitek X52 works great for me and at £74 it's a bargain - I paid a lot more that that for one a year or so ago.

another long term MSFF2 user here but alas mine died and after trying a succession of logitech and saitek sticks i dug deep and bought a CH combat stick.simply the best stick ever made, not FF though.

hi,

first post on here!

id recommend ch flight yoke with pro pedals but if you really need a joystick id probaby go with the saitek.

Dont think the sidewinder is made anymore which is a real pity.

Got an MSFF2 here - great joysticks and I love the force feedback (very handy in games like il2 :) ).

It's a shame they stopped producing them however if you can get your hands on one for cheap I'd recommend it.

X52 otherwise though - great joysticks.

I like (and use) the X52 throttle, not too keen on the stick itself. I use my Saitek Evo Force (or whatever it's called) stick instead.
