Hi,

I'm looking at buying a joystick, I play a few flight sims, and the main reason I don't play more is because I don't have a joystick, the reason I don't have a joystick . . . didn't have enough sims to warrant one . . . you see the catch 22!

However, I finally found X3 and as my first introduction to space sims was Tachyon: The Fringe (lets see if anyone remembers that!) with a joystick, I have trouble with X3 without one. So I figured it was time to bite the bullet and pick one up.

However, it's been a while, and the last one I used was a Sidewinder (I forget which model, no force feedback, I think it was a fairly basic one) and I have next to no clue about the joysticks of today.

I've been searching around, and the Saitek Cyborg X seems like a good choice, but I figured I would get peoples opinions before I took a plunge I might regret. So, what are peoples opinions of the Cyborg X, and would anyone suggest a different joystick over it?

Thanks ;)

Ta, I'm also considering the X52/X52 Pro, but it's somewhat more expensive, and the sheer amount of buttons are frightening me a little :P But if there is anyone out there with one, what do you think of it

Well, having looked around at the X2 Pro, I am much more tempted by it, if only because there are reviews of it. And because I do want to get into the flight sims more. However, there's still a week or so before I'll be buying, so any more suggestions etc. fire away.

I've had a look at the CH products, and personally, they look somewhat . . . lacking to me. I don't know whether it's the number of buttons, and I am looking to be able to access nearly everything from the control. Hence why I'm starting to look quite seriously at the X-52 Pro.

I'm not certain about the older Saitek joysticks, but having the deadzones able to be calibrated is a good feature. Also, having used the SST program before now, I like the macro and advanced command features, though they take some getting used to. Still interested in the Cyborg X though, due to its physical flexibility and the double throttle.

Speaking of the double throttle, anyone know any games where it is useful?

Very nice review there, thanks :) And don't worry about the spelling, I'm pretty good at deciphering things like that :p

Just out of interest, what games are you using the joystick with?
