Well I just accidentally came across the sexiest thing ever: "Saitek Cyborg Evolution Joystick" http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardware/article.php/3106621

I haven't used a joystick in a very long time and have always thought they were best suited to flight sims. Well I'm looking for alternates to the mouse and was wondering if something like this would be good to play RPGs and RTSs? Does anyone here use joysticks for gaming?

I would only use joysticks for a couple of things:
-Flight sims
-Space sims
-Controlling vehicles in otherwise standard FPS games (BF2, Armed Assault, etc)

I once knew someone who played all his fps games on a joystick but like the post above, I wouldn't recommend one for anything but flighty games.

could you use one in bf2 for flying planes but keyboard and mouse for being on foot. like be able to switch between using keyboard+mouse and joystick in one round if you know what i mean

I bought the Saitek Cyborg Evo and only use it on BF2 for choppers and jets, I’ve bought a couple of peripherals in the past and regretted it, but the Evo is definitely not one. Love it.
