I don't know if this belongs in the General Hardware section or here but anyway.

I don't really play flight games a lot but I am placing a big order atm and I could do with one for BF2 and a few other games where using keyboard and mouse is less than ideal, so I was wondering what Joystick I should get, I don't want to spend more than £30 max and while I know you get what you pay for I don't want something that will break the first time I use it.

I still use my trusty MS Sidewinder Precision Pro 2, although I'm thinking about investing in a X52 to make LOMAC and Falcon 4 a lot easier to control.

The only time in BF2 a joystick is required is in the helo's or jets, and a joystick user would cream someone using keyboard & mouse!

no matter how i try i cant do the thing where you strafe around a flag in a chopper, i cant get a sideways movement with my mouse and keyboard.

it's tough to explain but once it clicks you do it with out thinking. it's all about small constant adjustments. a lot of wasd with a bit of mouse. if you're circling to the right then use more 'a' and vice versa. and then small burst of power.

start practicing with bigger circles, taking off from a ship and then circling round it is a good one to start with and then gradually get tighter and tighter. also to start with just try it keeping the nose level with the horizon and then when you get better try doing it with the nose pointing down more.

the other weird thing for me is that I normally flip the up/down axis but in the helis i find it easier if up is up, only on mouse though.

I also think kb+m is best for heli's and all this max the sensitivity loop the loop stuff is ok for avoiding missiles but useless heli v heli imo. and v.anooying for the gunner.

Or simply use a joystick! Much easier! :)
