Jpeg Files open in notepad ??

Have been pulling my hair out all evening with this problem, but basically everytime I try to open a jpeg file it opens in notepad. What I mean if I have file from my camera on my desktop and I double click it it opens in notepad.

I've gone right click open with Paint Shop Pro 9, psp opens but refuses to open the file. Yet I can open the file no problem once I have psp running.

Any ideas, have checked the file associations and they all seem ok. So before I take my PC outside and shoot it, any help will be greatly appreciated.

When you right click and do open with, can you open them in any other programs besides PSP, such as the windows default viewer?

Run PSP and look in the preferences. In there you can set the files you wish PSP to open.

Summat sounds slightly borked somewhere. Try running the standard virii/ spyware scans, and also resinstalling Paintshop. (You haven't been running a registry cleaner by any chance?)

Yup opens fine that way through the Windows Viewer. I have rcecntly ran wincleaner and all was working fine after I'd used that.
