i dont think it can take screenies, i think people just use their phones

Guess im in the same position as the OP. I absolutely freakin loved FF7 (replaying atm( and FF8, 9 was a bit meh, 10 was pretty damn good but after that i just couldnt care about JRPG's anymore, they all seemed to focus on the fashion and same dull architecture (it could be the move to 3D has sorta lost some of its charm). The lack of world maps that you can freely roam also was a major turn off............ and as the op said, wierd looking transexual boys. Might have to give the new FF a bash if its considered any good.
Edit - Oh yeah and Summons, what happened to them ? I much preffered whipping out 1 ultimate smackdown rather than having some critter come out and essentially being another player character.
