Hi,
I could be totally wrong here but i'm sure i've heard you get some kind of bonus from jobseekers when you find a job, if you've been signed on a certain lengh of time.
i've been signed on for three years since i left college and got absolutly no where with a job, but i've finally got a job i start next week.

Anybody recently signed off to start a new job? is there any kind of bonus?

The Back to Work Bonus no longer exists. It was only available to people who were claiming Jobseeker's Allowance for 13 weeks or longer, and were in part-time work whilst claiming, and then signed off to start full time work.

It was replaced by the Job Grant.

The Job Grant is a payment of either £100 or £250, depending on your circumstances (whether you are single, or part of a couple), and have been claiming Jobseeker's Allowance for a continuous period of 182 days or longer without a break, and then sign off to start work. If you have claimed t in the past 12 months, you won't be eligible. If you have not had a claim for 182 days, you won't be eligible. If you have been claiming for longer than 6 months, but have had a sanction or a disallowance on your claim, then you won't be eligible.

Congratulations on getting a job, if there is a sum available as McManicMan has clarified then that's great for you but if not you've got a job now, that has to be a bit of a bonus in itself.

thanks McManicMan, atleast someone can give useful info.

true getting the job is a big bonus, now i'm not sat bored at home all the time and it's roughly 8x the money.
just wanted to ask becasue i wanted to know what circumstances would mean one person got it and another didn't really.

If you're using GD to answer that question rather than the job center, then I guess that explains the three year employment gap.

my job centres not open for another 40mins so i thought if someone on here has recently found employment they may be able to give an answer.
i've got to go to job centre anyway to sign off so that i should have my p45 before next monday.

Sorry, but I would have thought you'd have looked into these things long before now.

This kind of thing would be one of the first things I asked them!

It's took your 3 years to find a job, after you finish college?!?

Unless you've got some kind of medical condition that's got to be a record...

That's a bit rich coming from you who asked "Do cheques expire?" did you not ask your bank first before asking here :p:D

Not at all... I recieved the cheques at 9pm and asked the question from work (given that I work nights). Can't use telephone banking from where I work, but asking GD via my laptop is fine. :p

Different thing entirely.
