Well ive claimed since i was 18 i dont feel bad about it since i have worked before and its just basicly the tax ive paid coming back to me. I dont really need the money it just helps if i want to do something i dont have to go scrounge off my parents or dig into my savings. Problem is i go to work on my parents house in france on the 2nd of October (unpaid) for 2 weeks and im meant to attend a 1 hour course on that morning at the job centre, i would normally go to such thing but im on the ferry at this time :p. i will also not be able to sign on them weeks. what should i tell them ? because from friends i hear the can be a pain even if you say you dont want any money for them weeks.

Thanks, Andy

they'll probably assume you're going on holiday! :p I'd be tempted to not turn up and just say you were ill or something, not very honest tho...

Tell them you're on holiday that week. I think they allow up to 3 weeks a year before asking you anything about it. I had a week booked and was out of work a couple of years back and they just rearranged my sign on day.

You know you can talk to them. Unpaid work is valid work and you'll need to complete a form declaring what you're doing but if there's work involved you'll be excused from signing and they'll rearrange it for you.

doesnt sounds like you are 'job searching' those week tbh so you should sign off then sign back on.

whatever happens you will likely not get paid those 2 weeks anyway.

If you don't attend , your claim will be suspended . And you will need to re-apply .

It will then be up to them if your JSA is resumed .

You don't get any holiday weeks and if you are doing work of any kind you must tell , even if its unpaid , as they will still see it as a fraudulent claim
