Hi guys,

Recently, if I pull away from a standing start a bit spirited, I get some judder on the clutch. Not like the normal slipping, but but but like it bites, gives, bites, gives etc.

It doesn't slip at all in the normal manner.

Any ideas what this is? It's a X/2000 1.8 focus petrol by the way.

Cheers,

Mal

I've got a Vauxhall Corsa that does this too...

Did you have your clutch changed recently?

Nope not had the clutch changed recently.

Is there anything I can do to easily diagnose this, or would a trip to the garage be needed!?

Well mine occurred after replacing my clutch... your clutch may need calibrating.

my 1 series did that. They said the spring holding the clutch plate slipped. They fixed it under warrenty but tried to blame me for it.

I get the same thing with my battered old Escort, not like the clutch is slipping, but the car kinda loses power for a second, then gets it back again.

I just put it down to the car being a rusty old shed with a limp wristed engine.

Nah this isn't loosing power, it's like the clutch bites, then releases, then bites, then releases etc.

fix is easy "new clutch"

"Well, my driving style isn't very kind I guess " says it all, to much heat in the clutch

one final thought tho it could be oil contamination from engine , but thats getting expensive if the rear oil seal is US
