I have started watching this regular on an afternoon and its awesome.

I always assumed it would be utter crap, but its brilliant watching her ripping into dumb people.

Certainly beats Jeremy Kyle and whatnot :)

Shes immensely condesending and sarcastic. Entertaining stuff :D

Anyone else embarrassingly enjoy this show?

no - too stupid for me.

Sister watches it quite regulary though. I just cant understand why people are taking themselves to court for some of the stuff

Thats part of the entertainment for me. The things people are trying to sue eachother for are sometimes completely ridiculous. Its pretty good because normally she finds it equally stupid and rejects their claims.

I dunno how the show gets the cases, maybe they waive legal fees or something .

I believe they actually look at cases that have been filed with the US small claims court - they then approach the plaintiff, and if they agree, the defendant.

Both parties are paid a daily fee for appearing, and also get travel and hotel paid. There is a shared pool of $5000 dollars paid to both parties at the end, but any awards are paid first - then the remainder is split.

The ruling are actually legally binding, and the show does work closely with the small claims court system. Some rulings have been overturned, but only because the judgement was outside of the remit of the arbitration system (such as child support payments or visitation).

The show also will pass information to insurance companies/DCFS regarding fraud as well (as Judge Judy takes great delight in pointing out).

And yes, I am watching it right now :D

My gf watches this tripe on a regular basis, I'm sick of hearing the woman shouting at the idiots on the show:mad:

I did question though as to whether the show was fake or not, but you have answered my question.

Once saw an epsiode where a woman sued another woman becuase her cat had jumped on her head from a window above.

Johnny Rotten was on it once too - he was brilliant. Worth searching out on youtube.

Also saw a woman sue her (ex) friend for the cost of lunch because the friend had ended their friendship. Because they paid for eack other's lunch on alternate weeks, the plaintiff calculated that they hadn't paid for an equal amount of lunches.

Put on your listening ears! I must say I do enjoy a bit of Judge Judy telling off hicks etc. It's guilty pleasure for sure. She has a new series now without Byrd but it's still pretty much the same.

Here is a couple of hours for you to enjoy.
