Ok why i picked the above, Ive read the opteron, dfi board and g.skill RAM work well and would give plenty of room to overclock (Would a 3700 athlon be just as good? ive seen theres a good batch goin round atm but not sure if the 146 would outperform it).

The case, not worried at all about its looks...would it impact temps at all?

Gfx, went with ocuk to keep to budget. the desc says it should overclock well...comments?

Sound: x-fi, well i went for the cheapest as it seems the Fatality edition is the same card but with the panel and all the gadgets.

Oh and as for power Ive read a lot of good reviews about the hiper tho anything around same price but less noise id consider too.

have a budget of around £880 so if anyone can suggest improvements or adjustments while keeping to that id be greatful.

Thanks!

Looks like a good spec.

The case will be fine, although you'll want to get a few 80mm case fans in order to move hot air out of the case.

I'd get a Tagan, Enermax or Seasonic PSU over the Hiper - there's been a few problems recently with reliability.

Very good choices with the RAM, mobo, CPU and heatsink:).

/edit: Yeah go for the 3700 San Diego, I hadn't realised the Opteron had got so expensive!

ok id save £20 going with the 3700 and swapping out the hiper with one of your suggestions would put me just at my budget.

Seasonic S12 500W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply (CA-001-SS) £89.24 - plenty of juice?

Better case, graphics card, power supply and ram that is ideal for overclocking. Also, dual core.

another great but different responce... I maybe should have noted that this pc will be mainly for playing BF2...will it take advantage of both cores?

so most get 2.5ghz out of the x2 3800, im guessing the freezer 64 and the mobo/ram choice i have will enable me to get that too? its tempting to go dual core :)

If the ATI will outperform the GTX then i guess ill go with ATI for the first time ever :)
