Juicy info on Nehalem

Yay, Nehalem next year and then in about 3 years time we might actually have an OS and some games that take advantage of it properly.

you are SOOOOOOO right its hilarious, your all drooling over hardware which when you buy is gonna be sitting doing sweet FA 90% of the time, why on earth is everyone so eager to upgrade when nothing has brought core 2 to its knees yet, its like people who buy new cars all the time, they think its better cause its newer, but in truth theres nothing better. hate to say it but its the same with nehalem (stupid name to be honest), why bother with it if nothing is gonna use its processing power? your gonna have a 253MPH bugatti veyron in the middle of london, in rush hour, whats the point?

Many do, already.

Can you set application affinity properly yet then? Does dual/quad work properly in Crysis?

I know it sounds cynical, but I just feel that software is about 18-24 months behind hardware at the moment. We're being encouraged by the likes of NVidia and Intel to shell out on these new cutting edge pieces of kit (don't get me wrong, I was suckered in too) every 12 months when there's little support out there.

For example, NVidia's appalling SLI support. First touted as the best thing since sliced bread, nearly 2 years on and there's still major problems every time a new title is released. It really does seem like hardware is running before it can walk properly, probably to beat the competition. Maybe AMD have got it right with Phenom by not going for tats out performance and trying to win the fans back with price/performance ratio and stability/reliability.

Time will tell I guess...
