I just rehoused my 6900XT into a different system with less radiator surface area so I've been keeping an eye on it's behaviour and have noticed a higher than expected junction temperature. While gaming the GPU temp seems to sit rock solid at 55c whereas my junction temperature goes up as far as 92c.

I'd expect some disparity but this seems excessive. I can't seem to find any info on if the alphacool eisblock is directional or not? The only other thing I was wondering If it might need a repaste?

Card is a red devil 6900xt btw.

Thanks
Scott

I bought this card second hand from here and this is not what I expected to find.

Missing memory pad. Pads fitted into cut outs where they weren't required which would have been hurting GPU die contact. Pads fitted on top of the originals. Was a complete disaster zone under there! It had been liquid metalled as well which I didn't know about. I cleaned everything up. Replaced the pads and applied MX2 paste my junction temperature doesn't exceed 80 now.

Also there were flow direction arrows on the block and it was flowing the wrong way but I'm convinced the issue was down to the poor block fitment.

It's thermal pad type material. The block has cut outs for some board components. For some reason he's put some super thick pads inside them.

Yes, Sold to me by a very active member with almost 100 positive feedback.

Definitely disappointing to say the least. Can see why manufacturers don't like honouring warranty when coolers are removed!.

Imagine going to all the trouble of applying liquid metal only for it to perform much worse than cheapo MX2!
