Junk and random services on new laptop.

Recently purchased an ASUS laptop and as usual it came with a load of software that I didn't need, so I went about uninstalling it.

The only bit I wasn't sure about was the Intel stuff, do I need it?

Then I went onto task manager and found 115 services running!

I tried the msconfig, but there are so many services that it is overwhelming, some of them have a very vague name. So I chose the simple startup option but that loads nothing (not even Aero and basic audio).

Is there a simpler way of doing this?

The aim is to make the laptop as fast as possible.

I gave up trying to weed out crapware on new PCs ages ago - I always found it simplest just to do a format and clean install using a standard Windows setup disc.

It's pretty quick and straightforward with new equipment, as you won't have any pre-existing personalised settings or user data to locate and back up (or not).

I'd say formatting and installing Windows again is the best approach too, though in my experience it depends on the manufacturer as to how much crap comes pre-installed. My Dell had hardly anything, my mum bought a Samsung and that was absolutely crammed full of rubbish.

The only laptops I make a backup of before doing the fresh format are Sony. Because they're cacj and they have their own weird drivers for screen brightness on a lot of models.

Just do a fresh install
