Hi,
I wondered if there was anyone on OcUK that could help me with this issue please?

I use MS Office 2013 and in turn use Outlook 2013 as my email client. One thing I have not been able to work out is how to stop junk email from landing in my junk email folder. In the junk email options there is a ticky box that says 'Permanently delete suspected junk email instead of moving it to the Junk email folder'. I have this box ticked but I still get emails coming through to the junk email folder that I have blocked in the past.

Any ideas?

Outlook is not an antispam solution I'm afraid - it's capabilities are very limited. You are better off looking at what antispam your email provider offers and using that.

I would turn off the junk email filtering that's built into Outlook 2013 and let Outlook.com manage the filtering on your account as that will be done at the point that e-mails are received. What is probably happening at the moment is that the emails are being sorted into the junk folder (as part of the standard filtering which you manage via outlook.com) before Outlook 2013 even sees them.

This then automatically delete anything categorised as junk after 10 days. Trying to set it to instantly delete anything in junk is a really bad idea unless you're completely confident that the filter gets it right every time (it won't).

What andshrew said. Also set your Hotmail filtering to 'exclusive' - I've had a hotmail account almost since day one, get about 40-50 spams a day and they ALWAYS end up in the junk folder. My inbox is very clean.
